Australian System Safety Conference

Call for Papers & Presentations

May 22nd – 24th 2013, Adelaide, SA, Australia

www.assc2013.org

Theme: Automation & Resilient Systems
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The Australian System Safety Conference is a joint conference between
the Australian Safety Critical Systems Association (aSCSa) and the
International Systems Safety Society (SSS) Australian Chapter.

The theme of this conference focuses on Automation & Resilient Systems –
In what ways do they increase/decrease safety?

Several seeds, or lines of enquiry, are indicative of likely interest
for papers:
o Safety analysis challenges and benefits of adaptive systems
o What to automate and what not to automate?
o Who is responsible when good systems go bad: designer, operator or
regulator?
o Unmanned systems safety - protecting the innocents at risk
o Cost vs benefits of unmanned but less assured
o Is remote or "detached" safety management effective enough?
o Is automating safety analysis valuable or dangerous?
o Operator vs monitor - reliability of safe behavioural modelling and
expectations
o Predicting Unmanned and Autonomous System Behaviours
o Challenges of Unmanned and Autonomous System
o Structuring Safety Cases for Autonomous Systems
o Systems for Safety and Autonomous Behaviour

We are interested in industry cross-pollenization and looking for papers
on automation in Rail & Transportation, Medical & Health, Defence &
Aviation, Mining, and Oil & Gas.

Call for Papers and Presentations:
The conference is accepting two types of papers:
1. Refereed Papers by the conference program committee
2. Industry Presentations (not subject to peer review)
