Trolleyology has an extensive history, starting with Philippa Foot and then Judith Jarvis Thompson,
some of which is referenced in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolley_problem . The original article
was from 49 years ago.

It's a great problem as long as you don't have an urgent need to solve it personally, right now :-)
Bruce Schneier's February Crypto-Gram includes a couple of relevant articles about trusting yourself

subsequent article.
I think there is no question that these are important issues. Increasingly.
