[SystemSafety] John Knight

[Peter Bernard Ladkin]

John Knight, eminent dependable-software engineer, Professor at the University of Virginia,
recipient of the 2006 IEEE Harlan D. Mills award in software engineering, and member of this list,
died last Thursday evening.

Those of us who knew John valued him not only for his good company and wry sense of humor, but for
his exceptionally perceptive views not only on technical matters but on professional issues such as
standardisation processes and the qualification of software engineers.

Very sad. I imagine many others here will feel so too.
