When will we see an equivalent consultation for "driverless" cars?
Martyn
The state of california does has autonomous vehicle regulations:
https://techcrunch.com/2018/04/02/california-dmv-has-new-regulations-for-self-driving-car-companies/
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/vr/autonomous/auto
And also has been collecting enough data over the years so as to allow academic analysis:
IEEE/CAA JOURNAL OF AUTOMATICA SINICA, VOL. 5, NO. 1, JANUARY 2018
Analysis of Autopilot Disengagements Occurring During Autonomous Vehicle Testing,
Chen Lv, Member, IEEE, Dongpu Cao, Member, IEEE, Yifan Zhao, Daniel J. Auger, Senior Member, IEEE, Mark Sullman, Huaji Wang, Laura Millen Dutka, Lee Skrypchuk, and Alexandros Mouzakitis
I’ve read the above report and find it interesting for what it does and doesn’t say.
cheers,
bob s.

At least the regulator is trying to state and to consult on the
certification requirements and allowable failure probabilities. Contrast
that with the absence of any such requirements at the moment, in the
case of cars that have an autonomous capability.

Wasn't it Henry Ford who once said that people can't even drive

ROTFLMFAO! - not at you, Derek, but at the arrant stupidity of
